Summary

In the West: Summer 1959, Irina began her next assignment in “The Student.” She was to hand out more copies of Doctor Zhivago at the World Youth Festival in Vienna. For ten days in late July, an estimated “twenty thousand international students” would be in attendance for the festival’s events (323).
