Summary

Chapter 13, titled “The Boyette,” covers Olive Byrne’s college experience up to meeting William Moulton Marston her senior year. In 1922, Olive spent the summer with her mother in Truro, New York which at the time had become a safe-haven for progressive politics and life styles. While there, Olive and Ethel received word Margaret Sanger married a millionaire oil magnate named J. Noah Slee. Upon learning this, Ethel rushed to New York with her daughter intent on having her sister’s new rich husband pay for Olive’s education to become a doctor.

Olive ended up enrolling at Jackson, the women’s college of Tufts University. There, she met Mary Sears who would later serve as the inspiration of Etta Candy, Wonder Woman’s best friend. While at Tufts, Byrne invited her aunt to speak about birth control and she was banned from speaking...
