Summary

Chapter 50 is titled “Escape Hatch.” Caleb is determined to go to the hospital, even if he has to ride his bicycle there. He wants to be sure Styx is really alright, but he also wants to confront Styx with what he now knows about Styx's plans to run away. Bobby Gene sets out to stop him but eventually just gets on his own bicycle and follows. Styx and his foster mother drive by. His foster mom says Styx needs to get home to rest, and that Caleb and Bobby Gene should go home as well. Their mother arrives and makes them put their bikes in the station wagon. Bobby Gene tells his mom he is sorry they took off, but Caleb does not.

Chapter 51 is “Reckoning.” Bobby asks if he needs to nail Bobby Gene and Caleb's window closed but Angie interrupts, saying...
