The Harkin’s Basement in Baldoyle, North Dublin, Ireland, Christmas Eve 2006

The entire play takes place in the Harkin’s basement. This basement is a very dirty place that clearly “lacks a woman’s touch” (7). The basement is very messy. It contains a bar and a kitchen off stage. The appearance of the basement is that of a bar. There are many accoutrements found in bars around the place. Any furniture in this room is very old and worn. A painting of the Sacred Heart with a light under sits on the wall of the stairs.
