Part Twelve Summary

Matthew returns to the castle. Morpheus has spoken with Daniel and is examining the emerald he asked for. Morpheus says that he will confront the Furies and also that the Corinthian has promised to destroy Matthew for leaving him. Morpheus promises to tell the Corinthian that Matthew was pulled away against his will. The emerald is a Dreamstone, the last of twelve. It was a gift to the eagles, who used it for a while and returned it. Morpheus remarks at how each facet seems to be the whole jewel as it catches the light. Morpheus gives the stone to Daniel.
