Point of View

The point of view of the novel is the third-person and omniscient perspective. The reader is able to compare and contrast what is going on in different states at the same time. The chapters bounce around giving glimpses into what is happening in Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, and Colorado. The book starts out introducing the main characters as seniors at Oklahoma State University. Annie and Michael are in their favorite pizza parlor and friendly Christine comes to visit them. She takes a piece of their pizza without asking but does ask for a drink to be served.

In the first chapter, Annie is leaving her home in Florida on her way to Christine's cabin in Colorado. Later, the reader discovers that Michael, his wife, and father-in-law live in Texas. Williamson's store in Weber Creek provides a setting for extra characters, such as MJ, Bob, and Doc to...
