Rose Christine Marchand

Rose Christine Marchand is the heroine of the novel. She is the daughter of Celestine and Laurent Marchand and the half-sister of Reginer. She is also the stepdaughter of Ombrine and stepsister of Desiree. When Rose is only thirteen, her mother makes a wish to the goddess Artemis that her daughter will know always that she is loved. After the goddess grants this wish she cries for the girl because she knows the journey will be hard. Celestine dies as a result of her wish, which is the first blow to Rose.
