Summary

In Chapter 39, When Mark and Todd arrived back in D.C. for their court date, they remembered when they had first arrived for law school. They had been so optimistic about their futures. They wondered how everything had gone so wrong.

The two met with Phil, their lawyer, and learned they were looking at a maximum of two years in jail and a fine of $1,000. The told Phil they did not plan to go to jail and wanted him to stall their case. Phil estimated it could be put off as much as six months to a year. Mark indicated that would give them plenty of time to work out a deal.
