Summary

As Toad and Rabbit are kept as prisoners in the side room of the barn, Toad is an emotional wreck, while Rabbit both diligently tries to gather information that would lead to their escape, plus also propping up Toad's morale. The pair try a number of tactics that they hope will change the criminals' plans, such as: Rabbit trying to gain sympathy from the weasel (as the criminals were much fonder of Rabbit), or pretending Toad is gravely ill.

After none of the techniques work, Rabbit moves an incredibly heavy manger from its spot up against the wall, and she begins to chip away at the rotten wood of the barn. She eventually makes a hole large enough that she can slip through -- although the hole is too small for the larger Toad. However, Toad...
