Chapter 10

Raul passes his kidney stone and is taken into custody by the Pax guard. Raul dreams again of Aenea, who tells him that she can infect humanity with a vision of its future, but only if the cruciforms are removed. She says there are four steps needed for humans to move on to their next stage of evolution: learning the language of the dead, learning the language of the living, hearing the music of the spheres, and learning to take the next step.

Dem Ria awakens Raul and tells him that a Pax security squad, including a recently arrived dropship, while be arriving shortly to search the town for him.
