The town

The unnamed town and surrounding rural area in which Mikey, Mel, and the others live, appears to be in rural Washington State. The area is described as being like any other regular American town, but that it is heavily forested and features a nearby glacial lake popular with locals. Mikey and his friends are not all fans of the place and look forward to going to college out of town. The unnamed town becomes the locus point for the Immortal invasion, and while Mikey and the others do their best to go about their lives as normal, a confrontation between the indie kids and the Immortals occurs. The area, as Mikey explains elsewhere, has a long history of being targeted by dark creatures. Why it is not known, but what is known is that successive generations of indie kids have defended and saved the place.
