The Children's Book, Love Forever

The children's book, Love Forever, resembles the individual's deeper life beyond the surface of their exterior. When Ki finds the book while picking, neither he nor Sang Ly know its significance. When Sang Ly witnesses Sopeap's emotional response to the book, however, she begins to understand that Sopeap contains more layers than she initially believed. When Sopeap later reveals that her friend wrote the story about her and her son, the author shows that, like the book, Sopeap possesses a rich life beneath her harsh shell. Just as Sang Ly discovers the beauty of the story after she learns to read, so her lessons with Sopeap unveil the beauty and goodness of her teacher's spirit. Through the book, the author suggests that each individual has a similarly hidden story, one that takes time and care to uncover and understand.
