Summary

In Chapter 25, Sang Ly reads the epilogue Sopeap wrote in the journal. The story reveals the truth about Sopeap's history, the way she lost her family during the revolution, her true identity as the educated Soriyan, and the death of her housekeeper, whose name the rent collector assumed afterwards. At the end, Sopeap writes her final goodbye to Sang Ly. Sang Ly is convinced the story means that she must find Sopeap.

In Chapter 26, Sang Ly desperately searches Sopeap's stories for a clue about her whereabouts, but finds nothing. She and Ki go to Sopeap's house to find the book she has left behind. They begin asking Sopeap's neighbors if they know where she has gone. They decide one woman, Teva, will know.

In Chapter 27, per Teva's suggestion, Sang Ly and Ki go to The Ministry of Land and Records to find Sopeap...
