Point of View

The novel is written in first-person from several perspectives which means that the reader sees some of the scenes from multiple views. The name of that character appears at the top of each chapter so the reader knows from the beginning which perspective is in place. That means there are multiple chapters “titled” Zee and Gentry, with some other characters' perspectives throughout. The novel is part love story and part mystery, and the reader never sees the view from some characters' perspectives in order to keep the secrets involved in the mystery. LaReigne Trego is a major example of this. As the novel opens, the reader learns that Zee is moving marijuana across state lines and that her sister, LaReigne, never returned from the prison where she volunteers.
