Chapters 9 Summary

In Chapter Nine, Moses Todd wakes Temple. He's in the cell next to her and Maury is moaning and reaching for Temple in the cell next to Maury. Moses asks Temple to help bind his wounds but she refuses, saying if he dies she'll have one less worry. Two huge men enter the room and though they seem to be zombies they move like humans. One, named Bodie, tells the one named Royal to sit down for "a dose." The two take turns injecting clear liquid into each other then leave Moses and Temple discussing what the liquid might be and why there are zombies in another of the cells. The giant little girl named Millie arrives and gives each of the three prisoners raw corn.

The following morning, Millie again brings breakfast and that afternoon she brings them tea. Moses suggests Millie...
