Summary

In Chapter 27, Cardan clings to Jude. He is naked and covered in blood. Initially, he refuses to accept a cloak from a soldier. Grima Mog asks permission to put Madoc in chains, and Cardan grants it. Jude looks around as Madoc's soldiers surrender. Redhats on the winning side put fresh blood on their hats. Some cannibals eat the dead. Jude and Cardan take a carriage back to the palace. Cardan goes directly to the brugh where he repairs the damage, creating two thrones. Previously, there was only one. While everyone rushes to help Cardan bathe, Jude goes to her room and finds Heather there, relieved that Jude and Cardan are safe. Jude begins to hyperventilate. Heather talks about her relationship with Vivienne to distract Jude while she helps remove the armor. Heather says she has decided to send Vivienne on a quest when...
