Summary

Julia checks the baby and finds it healthy. She gives the baby a bath and then gives the girl to Mary to hold and feed, who is blissful. Delia offers advice on feeding the baby. Mary falls asleep and Julia places the baby in the crib.

Julia leaves the peaceful ward to Bridie while she finds a doctor to sign the birth certificate. She looks for Dr. Lynn specifically. She finds Dr. Lynn in her office, listening to opera. Julia notices pillows and blankets. Lynn reveals she is sleeping in the hospital to hide from the police. She says she is not planning anything, but the police have made up a fictional plot to arrest those involved in the risings.
