Summary

In Chapter 11, Nik tries to write while thinking about her date with Carlos. That night he picks her up and they drive to his favorite taqueria. He orders in Spanish. He tells Nik his parents emigrated before he was born. He and Angie spoke Spanish at home but never at school because they were teased. When the food arrives, Nik is amazed at how much he ordered. Carlos shows her the best tacos and tells her how to eat them. He says he did not know if she would appreciate the authentic food because he thought she was bougie.

Nik tells Carlos more about her self-defense class. He suggests she write a piece about the gym and asks her more about her writing. She tells him about her recent publication in The New Yorker. Afterwards she asks him if he is worried about...
