Summary

Part VI is titled “Keys to the Abyss” and opens with a quote from Edmund Spenser that reads: “For whatsoever from one place doth fall, is with the tide unto another brought: For there is nothing lost, that may be found, if sought” (715). Chapter 66 is titled “West.” Ead wakes with Margret at her side. Margret reveals that Tane brought the fruit, but Tane collapsed immediately after her arrival and is still resting. That evening, Sabran and Ead spend together. They talk about the battle to come, including that Kalyba will relish killing Sabran with the sword Ascalon. Tane and Ead decide to begin practicing with the jewels to be ready to face the Nameless One.
