The Practice of Poetry is written by poets and for poets. This book is for people who have never written a poem and those who have been writing for years. Both authors have extensive backgrounds in poetry. Robin Behn and Chase Twichell are both poets and teachers. They have each written and published individual books of poetry and contribute to literary magazines. They could be considered working poets since they teach, do public readings, and work on their own craft. Robin Behn teaches at the University of Alabama and has received many awards and fellowships including the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the state arts councils of Illinois and Alabama, and the New England Review narrative poetry prize.
