Summary

Philippe attacks Darius with the poker and breaks Darius’ arm with it. Philippe shouts angrily at Darius, saying that Darius understands nothing about him or Angelica. Angelica watches Philippe chase Darius into the woods and eventually come back out. Philippe contacts Hervé, and Angelica fears that Philippe is asking Hervé to either hunt down Darius or dispose of Darius’ body. The next day, Angelica feels deeply depressed and worries that she will never escape her father. The narration then shifts focus to Darius, who managed to escape. He hitches a ride with a passing driver, who takes him to a nearby hospital. The doctors surgically realign Darius’ arm bone and put a cast on it. When Darius awakes from the surgery, he thinks about how wealthy and powerful Philippe is, and he worries that Philippe could have him secretly killed. Philippe leaves the hospital...
