Summary

The novel opens in England, close to the present day. Maja, a well-known actress, is married to a wealthy man named Philippe. She is 8.5 months pregnant when she boards a privately chartered airplane. She is flying from England to France to meet her husband at their home in France. The pilot, unbeknownst to Maja and Philippe, is not fully qualified. The plane meets with some bad weather, and the pilot loses control of the plane. The plane crashes into a farm silo. Maja and the pilot are killed by the crash. The pilot’s young son is onboard as well, and he also dies. Emergency services responds to the crash, and a doctor manages to save Maja’s unborn child.
