Summary

Kuang begins Chapter One with a test proctor demanding that the main character, Rin, take off her clothes. This begins the third person narration that focuses on Rin. Rin is in a testing room in the Tikany township of the Rooster Province for the Keju, a nationwide test in the country of the Nikan, that determines if a student will be allowed to attend higher education and potentially raise in the social status of the country. All of the students are scrutinized in the same way and made to wear the same blue smocks. All the students are given tests, Rin writes her full name "Fang Runin", and the proctor tells the students to begin. The first person narration then continues but the reader is taken to a flashback of how Rin came to be a student taking the Keju. The...
