Summary

Chapter 12 is an entry from Taffy Jones’ journal. He details the day that Christine visited Steeplechase Park, December 1, 1906. Taffy writes that he is the official fun master at Steeplechase Park. In the summer he invites people into the park while in the winter he oversees the servicing and repair of the rides and attractions.

Taffy writes the strangest day he ever spent at the park was the December day that the owner asked that the toy shop be opened and the Hall of Mirrors be in working order to entertain a private guest. Because both the men who ran both those attractions were out of town, Taffy writes he was lucky when a man who said he knew how the toys worked showed up and offered to mind the store.
