Summary

In Chapter 23, Myriam takes a bath with Adam and notices bite marks on his arm and back. She shows them to Louise and Louise tells her that Mila did it. When Myriam is skeptical, Louise shows her the bite mark on her arm from Mila as proof that the child is violent. When Myriam is still confused, Louise tells her to try not to “understand everything. Children are just like adults. There’s nothing to understand” (120).

In Chapter 24, Louise is upset when Myriam tells her that she and Paul are going to Paul’s mother Sylvie’s house for a week. Louise and Sylvie hate one another.
