Chapters 7 and 8 Summary

In chapter seven, Ryder goes by the inn to return the pie plate. No one is up and he considers just leaving but "was raised better," so he finds a sticky pad and writes a note of thanks. He talks briefly with Clare who says Hope seems recovered from her meeting with Jonathan. When Beck arrives on the job, they begin tearing off the roof of the huge green building that is going to be a fitness center, just across the street from the inn. Beck suggests Ryder ask Hope out for a date and there's more teasing. Meanwhile, Hope takes her opera glasses and watches Ryder work. Carolee catches her and laughs about it, then suggests they take lemonade to the work crew. Hope asks Ryder about "Man Night" and he says the boys ate most of the pie. She...
