Chapters 1 and 2 Summary

As the story opens, Hope Beaumont is giving all the rooms of Inn Boonsboro one last look before she heads to bed. As the innkeeper, she is careful that there are no burned out light bulbs or dirty dishes lying about. She is in Boonsboro, Maryland, near the Blue Ridge Mountains, and she loves her job. The inn and several other businesses are owned by Justine Montgomery and her three sons, Owen, Beck, and Ryder. Her two best friends are nearby. Avery MacTavish is engaged to Owen and owns the Vesta, a pizzeria. Clare Montgomery is married to Beck and is pregnant with twin boys. She owns Turn the Page, a bookstore located just around the corner.
