Summary

This section is third person narration from Saturn’s point of view. The section begins with a description paralleling Saturn to Samson: in the aftermath of a woman’s betrayal, finding the strength to push aside that which was overwhelming him and regain control – in Saturn’s case, of his story.

Saturn sees Sandra in her little house, mourning the loss of Froggy; he sees Froggy’s sadness as he realizes the war is over, and hears the violence of his quiet, angry whisper as he has furious sex with Julieta (“This is what you want … to watch me while I make love…”); he passes over the eager Smiley and instead focuses on Apolonio and the Baby Nostradamus, finally able to penetrate the Baby’s consciousness. He sees into the Baby’s sense of the future, and realizes that he will continue...
