The Facility

Most of the story takes place in an unnamed facility operated by Mama Strong. It is in a building that seemingly used to be a motel. The facility houses teenagers who were sent there against their will by their parents. The facility is supposedly designed to aid the teens’ development into responsible, successful adults. However, in reality, the conditions of the facility are unhealthy and dangerous, and the facility employs programs of physical and psychological torture in order to harm the captive teens. The facility uses lies and manipulation to keep its true nature a secret. Norah spends three years as a captive in the facility, and she is let go on her 18th birthday, as she has become a legal adult and can no longer be held against her will.
