Summary

Under Mama Strong’s encouragement, the other girls all verbally attack and rebuke Norah for the positive statements on her list. Mama Strong says that she knows who Norah really is and that Norah is not at the facility by mistake. She adds that Norah will only ever be able to be free from the facility by fundamentally changing who she is. The other girls then read their lists, and their statements are all deeply negative and self-condemning. Three months after arriving at the facility, Norah manages to earn enough points to spend an afternoon outside. Lessons at the facility consist of silent reading and multiple-choice questions. Almost 11 months after arriving at the facility, Norah is allowed to write a letter to her parents. In the letter, she begs her parents to come get her.
