Summary

In Chapter 7, Carter was taken by plane to someplace cold. A van with blacked out windows took him the rest of the way. During the drive, the soldiers guarding him were at first nice to him, letting him go inside the McDonalds to use the bathroom. One, named Paulson, began teasing Carter, asking if he had raped Rachel. Carter was so upset he was crying.

Even though Wolgast reported to Sykes how many witnesses there had been to the terrible scene when they took Amy, Sykes told them to bring her to the compound anyway. Wolgast feared that Amy would be reported as a kidnap victim. To cover his tracks, he bought a Tahoe from a used car lot.
