Part Four: Chapters 29-42

Chapter 29: Days of Rain

The following day it rains at the lake house. Aubrey spends the afternoon talking to Hannah. Hannah tells Aubrey she was unhappy with the thought that her parents had selected her future mate for her, but when she saw Aubrey she knew he was her soul mate.

Hannah tells Aubrey that her father, her mother, and the other scientists are dying because neurons do not regenerate and they were never able to fix this problem in their research. The symptoms already seem somewhat evident in Mrs. Radcliffe based on her frequent headaches and long afternoons in bed.
