Part Two: Chapters 11-19

Chapter 11: You’ll See Soon Enough

Aubrey becomes Jimmy’s constant companion, watching him go about his chores and gathering food. One day Uncle John gives Aubrey a knife and teaches him how to gut a fish so that he might become a productive member of the group. Jimmy teaches Aubrey how to swim. Aubrey helps Jimmy gather clams and fish. One day Aubrey spots an odd looking bird. Jimmy topples he boat they are in, hiding them from view. On the beach, Jimmy urges the women and children to hide. Later, Aubrey learns the bird was a drone. Uncle John is killed. The group burns his body and allows the wind to take his ashes.
