Summary

Chapter 16

Stuart Kearns, an FBI agent, arrives at the Manhattan Detention Complex. Kearns is treated with indifference until the corrections officer realizes his orders come directly from high in the government. Kearns is there to see Danny Bailey who has been in the complex since his arrest at the rally the night before. Danny has clearly been beaten throughout the night and is weary of Kearns despite his offer of help.

Chapter 17

Kearns convinces Danny to go with him to an unknown destination. Kearns tells Danny that he is part of a deep undercover project in which he has developed a website to convince extreme patriots that he is unhappy with the government and plans to retaliate with a stolen nuclear missile.
