Summary

Dorothy agrees to tell Hester what she knows of the child out in the snow. She tells Hester that Lord Furnivall, Miss Furnivall's father, had two daughters – Miss Furnivall (Grace), and Maude, who was the elder of the two. Lord Furnivall was very proud of his two beautiful daughters, and declared that no man would ever be good enough for either of them. But eventually, both Grace and Maude fell in love with the same man – a foreign musician, who had come to Furnivall to play music with their father. Lord Furnivall loved music so much that he invited the man to come to Furnivall manor every year, and around the same time he had the organ in the great hall shipped to the house from Holland.
