Summary

Chapter 13 begins with the Emperor telling Shao-yu that the date for the wedding to Princess Lan-yang was set, but that he also had another sister, and Shao-yu would marry them both. After the wedding, Shao-yu spent the night with Princess Ying-yang, the next night with Pincess Lan-yang, and the third night with Ts'ai-feng. The following day, Shao-yu was with all three women, and became melancholy because Princess Ying-yang reminded him of Ch'iung-pei. Ying-yang left angrily when he said this, and all three refused to come back to him for the night. Frustrated, Shao-yu went for a walk and saw the three women laughing in Ying-yang's room with a fourth woman, who he immediately recognized as Ch'un-yün. He listened to them gossip and poke fun at him, and realized that Ying-yang was Ch'iung-pei, then he got happy and decided to trick them. The next...
