Summary

In Chapter 23, we learn that Liam and Scarlett used to be a couple. Liam took the teaching job so that he could stay close to her. He tells Sophie that Zach was in a bad mood at the Dark Place party, but insisted on staying, whereas Tallulah wanted to leave. In Chapter 24, Tallulah arrives at Dark Place and Scarlett shares a secret: she has located the entrance to a seventeenth-century underground tunnel. It is hidden beneath a staircase, and accessed by means of an old lever that Scarlett also found. Chapter 25 opens in July 2017, but covers Kim’s unhappy life up to the point when Sophie came to her house with the ring.
