Mask

The mask worn by the Night Bird is a symbol of horror and torture. Todd wears the mask whenever he is working with his victims so that they cannot see his face. The mask is spotted at several different times in the novel and comes to be associated with the killer. Lucy sees a man wearing the mask right before Brynn has her breakdown. A man wearing the same mask seems to taunt Frost as he bumps into him on the street one day and then sits in wait outside his house on another day.
