Summary

In Chapter 38, Frost told Jess Salceda, his lieutenant, that he was worried about what the Night Bird had done to Lucy since she did not react to Carole King’s song the way the other women did. They talk also about Darren and his history of abusing women. Jess agreed with Herb that Darren was responsible for Merrilyn’s death. She also said that Merrilyn’s murder was not the first one he had gotten away with.

After Frost picked Lucy up from the hospital and took her back to her apartment, Lucy told him she had memories of being on a bridge.
