Summary

In Chapter 13, Millie is back at Lisa Hopper, where she is given another stack of papers to shred by Karen, who states that these are sensitive documents and should be shredded as soon as possible. She then receives an email from Julia, her contact at the temp agency, asking for an update about her experience at work. Julia asks if she has received any feedback from her supervisor, and if Millie thinks this is a job she could think about doing long-term. Millie begins fantasizing about all the ways her life could change if she had a permanent position at Lisa Hopper. She goes to the restroom and cries. She texts Sarah to ask if she should take the job, and Sarah says yes. She forgets to shred the documents.
