Summary

In her diary entry on October 21, Frankie woke to see the torn book. Robert urged her to help Nutter make a koala costume for Halloween. Robert had a letter ready to mail to Ayanna and Frankie offered to mail it, but she read it during class and threw it away. The letter indicated Robert had been emailing Ayanna from his work email. Frankie imagines their house, with the postcards that serve as wallpaper in the kitchen, the photos lacquered onto the table, and the chair hanging in the living room. She then imagines Ayanna moving in and changing everything. When Beth said she was going to work on the stage crew for the school play, Frankie felt betrayed but Beth did not understand her feeling.
