Summary

The first email Frankie discovers is to her father, Robert Wallop, from Ayanna Bayo. Ayanna's email address is “ratlady@wz.org” and the subject line is titled “kiss.” Frankie, who is 12, apparently does not hesitate to open her father's email. Ayanna writes that she enjoyed their evening together, “especially the kiss” (Location 18), and wonders if they will see each other again.

The next section is a diary entry dated October 16 at 4:05 p.m., and Frankie writes that she is horrified that her father has kissed a woman. She had immediately confided in her best friend, Beth, after finding the email. Beth romanticized the situation, imagining that Robert would fall in love and marry. Frankie is also horrified by the possibility of a “stranger” moving in with them. Beth suggested Frankie might like Ayanna. Frankie is glad she found the email in time...
