Lisbon

Lisbon is the city where the novel opens and closes. Ana and Luigi live and work in Lisbon. Henry and Sally are there, searching for cargo to haul, when they first meet Alphonse. The city is sometimes dangerous, especially when Henry is gone and officials hunt Sally with the intention of killing her. The docks are an important part of the city, and much of the story is set in the area near the quayside. There are limited details other than the descriptions of the specific places seen in the novel. These include the O Pelicano, the house where Sally hides among the pigeons, the building where Ana and Luigi live, the cemetery, and the prison.
