Sally Jones

Sally Jones is the gorilla who is the narrator of the novel. Sally goes to extreme lengths to prove the innocence of her best friend, Chief Henry Koskela. Sally is intelligent and resourceful. Virtually, her only shortcoming is her inability to verbally communicate with people. She can write and has that option available for communicating, but seldom uses it. She is the narrator of this novel and writes her story on an old typewriter given to her for that purpose. Sally is angry when Henry is arrested and wrongfully convicted, but she does not know how to go about trying to save him. She eventually begins to put clues together.
