Part 4, Crazy Eddie Answers: Chapter 56, Last Hope Summary

The Moties must be given an opportunity to surrender; Navy men and ships will die so those who won't surrender can draw first blood. Ivan is panicking; his race will be destroyed. Jock and Charlie continue to argue about the situation; Jock suddenly begins to change. To whatever extent Jock has acquired Fyunch (click) data on Admiral Kutuzov, the alien is shifting to that affinity. Using this technique, Jock figures out what must be done.

The Commission is going to order the extermination of the Moties. Politically, Fowler must set up the action so the Moties shoot first, allowing the extermination to happen as a result of that aggression. Fowler is committing ships and men to die to protect the future of the human race.
