Point of View

The point-of-view in The Misadventures of Max Crumbly: Middle School Mayhem is a first-person point of view that entirely follows the main character, Max. He is one of two protagonists in the novel, with the other being Erin. This means that the reader becomes invested in Max’ story and roots for him over the burglars. As a narrator, Max treads the line between reliable and unreliable. This is due to his overactive imagination, as many of the pictures he draws throughout the novel depict events that are impossible. This includes him breaking out of his locker in a variety of superpowered ways, or things like Tucker spinning impossibly fast on the gym’s fan.
