Part Two, Chapters 5-10 and Interim Summary

In Chapter Five, Rachael discovers her Uncle Lon secretly making Thora K's tonic: whiskey, molasses, and chloroform. During the winter Shay becomes ill and irritable, making Rachael uncomfortable. Remy goes to join Dan in California. Lon must stash away his bootleg liquor to avoid capture by the authorities, who are searching for him at the rodeo. He hides in the Brandy Wine, telling Hutch he will return in a couple months. He notices the strange mirror in the corridor with him.

In Chapter Six, Lon sees visions of Shay and Brandy in the mirror. In a panic, he flees into the Brandy Wine and falls. Chief Geronimo, peddler of tonic, drives by the Brandy Wine and hears Lon's scream. He takes the liquor and covers the mirror with a blanket. Hutch assures Rachael...
