Summary

In Part 2, Chapter 2, Singh recalls several incidents involving him and his father. Once, Singh and Cecil found a book of pornographic pictures, and Singh claimed they were his, as he wished to protect his father’s reputation. One day, when Singh brought home a book about Indian history home from school, Singh’s father took it from him and reprimanded him, saying that Singh was pretending to be able to read books that were in reality too advanced for him. Singh recalls one day when his father came home and, apparently angered by something, proceeded to smash every Coca-Cola bottle in the house on the floor, one by one.
