Summary

Maren feels annoyed and aggravated at Kirsten, despite Ursa’s many reassurances. They begin a cooking lesson. They make a flatbread, and Maren does not tell Ursa she chose it because it so simple that children make it. Maren thinks that Ursa is somewhat incompetent but when Ursa seems to apologize for herself Maren notes that she probably just lived life so different in Bergen that she could not have possibly prepared for this. She gives Ursa a long hug, which calms Ursa. They continue working, and though Ursa is not very skilled she begins to pick up some of Maren’s lesson.

After they finish, Ursa tells Maren about Agnete and Maren tells her about Erik. They put away the bread and Maren tells her to keep the rolling pin and baking stone. Maren, suddenly very reluctant to leave, suggests they could...
