Summary

Chapter One

All Thomas could remember was his first name. He was trapped in an elevator that jolted alive and lurched upward and knocked him over onto the floor. He heard the rasping sounds of the chains and pulleys. He pictured life as he knew it with grassy meadows and snowy landscapes. Yet, he didn’t know how he got there and who he was or who his parents were. He wanted to know what was happening to him.

All at once, the lift stopped throwing him across the floor. There was only silence. He screamed for help and pounded on the walls to no avail. He waited. A light appeared on the roof of the lift. He heard voices. He was more confused than ever when he heard someone say that it was a one-way ticket and there was no ticket back...
